Besides the odd occasion with a bar napkin whilst out, how long has it been since you have sat down with a sheet of paper and folded it into a paper plane? Can you remember all the different makes and models that you would create whilst growing up, and throw about in the classroom with friends?
Today’s SexyMandarin Blog will be taking you down memory lane and teach you how to make a paper plane with a twist… literally!
TERMS:
Paper – 纸 Zhǐ
Aeroplane – 飞机 Fēijī
Paper Aeroplane – 纸飞机 Zhǐ fēijī
Fold – 折叠 Zhédié
Crease – 皱 Zhòu
Fly – 飞 Fēi
Spin – 纺 Fǎng
MAKING THE PAPER PLANE:
THE BODY
1. Take an A4 sheet of paper, and lay it on the table portrait position.
Fold the paper in half from left to right to create a crease down the middle of the sheet. Open the paper back up.
2. Take the top left corner of the sheet and fold it in toward the crease to create a triangle. Do the same with the right side top corner.
3. Repeat step three again, folding the left side in toward the middle, followed by the same on the right.
Fold paper in half from left to right. This is the body of the plane. Turn the plane onto its side (landscape position).
WINGS
4. Take the corner of paper and fold down to create another triangle. Do the same on the other side of the plane. Open both triangles back up. Now you have the wings of the plane.
TIME TO MAKE IT SPIN…
5. With the LEFT wing, fold the corner of the wing up to make a triangle that stands up.
On the RIGHT wing, fold the corner wing DOWN to make a triangle that stands up.
Now you’re ready to fly! Have fun!
