Below are a list of 10 phrases that are in English, Pinyin, and simplified Chinese Characters. For most beginners, the thought of reading characters in Chinese and being able to enunciate can be a bit scary. Pinyin spells out the characters and makes it much easier to speak for non native speakers.
You may notice that many of the vowels have accent marks over them. These accents give the vowels tone which is very important in Chinese. In Mandarin Chinese there are 4 tones which you can learn more about in our video lesson on tones: 4 tones
